Inspiring people
The overall aim of community engagement activity at Trumpington Meadows is to inspire people about the natural world on their doorstep, providing opportunities to learn, experience and take action for wildlife.
We provide the public with the opportunity to enjoy and learn about local wildlife and to develop understanding and skills that will benefit local wildlife. We also provide opportunities for people to take action through a co-ordinated volunteer programme.
Schools and Groups
Schools and other groups can book a visit to the nature reserve. Our team also visit schools. At Trumpington we specialise in short (1-2 hour) sessions for KS1 & 2, although we welcome enquiries from all ages . These can be Ranger-led or self-guided.
Events
We organise and run events for all ages, such as guided walks (bat walks, mammal walks and dawn chorus) or hands-on activities (wildlife gardening, insect days).
Local community
We offer outreach in the local community— giving talks, attending fairs and community events—working closely with local partners (history groups, residents associations, parish councils, allotments and orchards etc).
