Whether you have a large garden or a small balcony, your outside space can provide a vital corridor across towns, cities and countryside for wildlife, and form part of a network of natural havens linking urban green spaces together with habitats across our three counties.

With an estimated 24 million gardens in the UK, the way we care for our outdoor space can make a BIG difference to our wildlife. The combined space of our gardens totals an area larger than the nature reserves across the UK Gardening for wildlife doesn’t need to be complicated; neither does it mean abandoning your secateurs and surrendering to a bramble invasion!

Our new Wildlife Gardening Award will inspire and reward more people taking action in gardens for wildlife!

To attract wildlife to your garden you need to provide opportunities for wildlife to get food, water and shelter.

There are simple ways of inviting wildlife in. Take a look at our Wildlife Gardening content to find out more.

You also need to think about how you manage your garden, to make sure it is as eco-friendly as possible!

To enter the scheme you must have at least 10 of the features below, with at least one from each area (food, water, shelter, management and connectivity) .

Please note, as we are a local Wildlife Trust we can only send packs to residents of Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Northamptonshire.

We’d love to receive applications from different types and sizes of garden. Whether you look after a garden at your home, in a community space, school, workplace, or care home. In return you will receive an award plaque to proudly display on your gate, wall or door, and a wildlife garden themed booklet packed with hints and tips for inspiration.
