Local Groups

Peterborough Local Group has been supporting the work of the BCN Wildlife Trust since 2010, offering a variety of fun and informative activities including indoor talks and guided walks on local nature reserves. The Peterborough Local Group is led by a committee of enthusiastic volunteers who delight in sharing the rich wildlife treasures of our local area, raising funds and spreading the word about the Trust’s valuable work.

It’s not necessary to be a member of the Wildlife Trust, or to know anything about wildlife, anyone can join in with our activities*! We hope to see you getting involved and enjoying the riches of wildlife that our local area offers and if you would like to become a member of the Wildlife Trust BCN, your annual subscription directly benefits your local wildlife.

*Under 18s are most welcome, but must be accompanied by an adult, please.

Group description and history

The Peterborough Local Group was founded in 2010 and has grown into a thriving group with a vibrant membership. Our main objectives are:

Engaging more local people in the work of the Wildlife Trust, hopefully leading to an increased membership
Providing an interesting and enjoyable programme of events throughout the year

Description of group activities

We run guided walks throughout the year, lead by experienced ecologists, on sites local and close to Peterborough.

Walks are at a slow pace, and suitable for both beginners and experts.

Please get in touch to discuss any accessibility requirements before each walk.

Under 18s are most welcome, but must be accompanied by an adult, please.

How to get involved

We warmly welcome anyone who would like to attend events, join the committee, or help out or get involved in whatever way you can. We cater for a mix of wildlife interests, which makes our events and meetings lively and varied. You don’t need to be a member of the WT to join in or help out.

If you would like to find out more about wildlife on your doorstep, we are the Group for you! You will meet like-minded people, and discover a great deal about the wildlife which makes our local sites home. Anyone can join in, and all activities are guaranteed to be fun and informative. In addition, our events will help link you to the work of the Trust locally, and ways to get more involved with your local Wildlife Trust.
