About the event
Join botanical artist and illustrator, Sophie Smith, for a workshop exploring the basics of botanical illustration. Working ‘in the field’ you will have the opportunity to study wild plants in their natural habitat at Summer Leys nature reserve and record findings in a sketchbook using graphite, coloured pencils and ink.
- No drawing experience necessary- it’s about using the sketchbook to stop, look and get hands on with nature, whilst also meeting like minded people and enjoying wildlife in our group.
- Sophie will have all the materials you need for this workshop. You will be given a sketchbook for your drawings but please feel free to bring your own if you prefer.
- We will be working in the car park meadow located next to the visitor centre. There are a couple of picnic benches, but you may wish to bring a camping chair for comfort and to allow you to sit closer to the subject you choose to draw.
