About the event
Join us for a fun morning of buschraft activities whilst enjoying time in nature in our education area at Summer Leys. We'll teach you how to use buschraft tools safely to make your own wooden mallet, use knives to make kindling, show you the art of firelighting using flint and steels before boiling water for hot drinks using a kelly kettle and enjoying toasted marshmallows over a campfire. These activities are fun for all the family and we encourage adults to get involved too!
- Due to the nature of these activities, children must be at least 7 years old and supervised by an adult on a 1:1 basis. Additional children over 12 years of age may be permitted to attend at the organisers discretion. Please contact the event organiser to confirm.
- Please ensure all attendees wear appropriate outdoor clothing and footwear. As we will be using fire, long hair should be tied back and clothing made from natural fibres i.e. cotton, linen or wool should be worn wherever possible.
- Please be aware our visitor centre will be closed for the winter months on this date (the toilets will still be available for use).
PLEASE NOTE: Car parking charges now apply for Summer Leys. Parking for members of the Wildlife Trust BCN is FREE - Members MUST register their vehicles to access free parking, for more information please visit here.
