About the event
These sessions are great fun for children and grown ups alike and are a great way to reconnect with traditional outdoor skills in the wonderful natural setting of the Nene Wetlands Education Area.
Learn how to safely use knives to create firewood and other objects (depending on time), have a go at using traditional techniques to create fire, toast marshmallows and find out how to use a storm kettle to boil water.
Due to the nature of these activities, children must be at least 7 years old and supervised by an adult on a 1:1 basis. Additional children over 12 years of age are permitted if parents or guardians are confident they can supervise them safely.
Please ensure all attendees wear appropriate outdoor clothing and footwear. As we will be using fire, long hair should be tied back and clothing made from natural fibres i.e. cotton, linen or wool should be worn wherever possible.
