About the event

This is part of a series of Wild in the Woods family sessions on Cambourne Nature Reserve every Wednesday during school holidays.

Join Wildlife Adventurer Becca Badger to dissect an owl pellet and find the bones of the small mammals it has eaten. We'll start indoors using bones as clues to identify what type of animal has been swallowed whole! Once the group have finished looking at the pellets, we'll go for an adventurous walk around Cambourne Nature Reserve.

This session is perfect for ages 7-11. Older children will also enjoy the activity. It is not suitable for mobile children under 5 for health and safety reasons. You are welcome to bring pre-walking babies in a buggy or sling.

Paths around Cambourne Nature Reserve are mostly flat and accessible, and we can adapt the session to the group. We may stray slightly from the path into more muddy and uneven areas.

What to bring

Some of this session will be outdoors. To avoid bites, stings and scratches, long sleeves and long trousers are suggested for all participants. Please wear clothes you don't mind getting muddy and sturdy shoes. The sessions will go ahead even if it rains, so you may require waterproofs. It is unlikely but if it is especially windy or lightening is forecast, it may not  be advisable to run the session. If this happens, we will let you know as soon as possible and refund your money.
