22 March 2022
Government’s guidance on Covid-19 continues to change on a regular basis, and we are adapting to those changes as they occur. Our duty of care to our staff, volunteers, members and our visitors remains our top priority.
Unless closed for the purposes of restoration, our outdoor spaces, including playgrounds and bird hides, are open.
While it is no longer mandatory, we ask visitors to consider wearing their own face covering inside the Nene Wetlands (Rushden Lakes) visitor centre to minimise the risk of spreading of Covid-19.
What safety measure are we taking?
- Face Masks. We encourage visitors to wear face masks indoors.
- Sanitising stations. These will remain in place for everyone to use.
- Screens. These will remain in place where applicable.
- Floor signage. We will be leaving our current floor signage in place where applicable to encourage distancing, and in case restrictions are re-introduced.
- Cleaning. We will retain our current regime of deep and regular cleaning.
- Test and Trace. The government scheme is no longer in operation. Staff are encouraged to use lateral flow tests where they are likely to come into contact with people they are not regularly working with.
Events
Outdoor events, workshops and programmes including family events and guided walks are running again. Visit our events page for a full list of upcoming events and to book your place.
Events will continue to be planned on the basis of making them Covid-safe. This may happen in a number of ways, including limiting group size and ensuring personal space and adequate ventilation. We may ask attendees to volunteer to take a lateral flow test before attending events.
Volunteering
Volunteering is now fully operational across the three counties – please see the relevant pages for each county. Numbers are not generally restricted, but all activities will be reviewed to consider any additional risks that Covid-19 may present.
Stay safe and enjoy our wonderful wildlife.
Our nature reserves
We manage more than 100 nature reserves throughout the three counties, and we will continue to ensure that these stay open to the public wherever possible, to ensure the local community gains regular access to these vital green spaces.
If we need to close one of our nature reserves, the restrictions will be listed on the site’s individual webpage – please check that reserve page before you visit.
Please note, all arrangements are subject to changes in circumstance and Government guidelines.
Doing more to help wildlife
Please consider helping the Trust make a real difference to wildlife by donating. All money raised helps us to sustain our work to protect wildlife and wild places throughout the county. Every donation, big or small, will make a huge difference. If you are not already a member and want to join us, our thanks in advance.
