Wildflower meadows and quiet woodlands
Open views, beautiful flowers, butterflies in springtime and space to wander out from city life: a large, interconnected area of chalk grassland on the south-east edge of Cambridge.
Pyramidal, fragrant and lizard orchids; perennial flax and moon carrot; greater pignut, basil thyme, juniper, visited by chalkhill blue, marbled white and brown argus butterflies... and glow worms too… not far from people, but all within easy reach of Cambridge and part of the open chalk landscape of the Gog Magog Hills.
Our aim is to create a large, interconnected area of chalk grassland on the south-east edge of Cambridge. At the same time, we are working with the farming community to create flower and insect-rich field margins across the landscape, linking isolated fragments of great wildlife habitat into a sustaining and attractive whole, perfect for people to explore and enjoy.
