Ely Local Group Event: Wicken Fen Walk
Event details
About the event
Wicken Fen is a wonderful reserve in any season, but is perhaps at its absolute best in May, with the breeding season in full swing for many creatures, lots of its flora in bloom and a smattering of interesting migrant birds still passing through. We aim to take a walk along Wicken Lode and back, perhaps returning via Baker’s Fen if time permits. The whole of the reserve should be a hive of activity (and a feast for the ears), with a host of birds calling away, including Sedge, Reed and Grasshopper warblers, Cuckoos, hunting Hobbies, Little and Barn Owls and perhaps even a Bittern. Please note, there may be a charge for using the Wicken Fen car-park (unless a National Trust member).
We will aim to car-share from Ely where possible. If you require, or are able to offer, a lift, please let Will know by email (willburdett@btinternet.com).
