About the event

We're delighted to invite you to our Great Fen Family Picnic Day! We've loads planned so bring a picnic blanket and your lunch to enjoy a full day out at our beautiful nature reserve. Get to know your way around, other families who live nearby, the wildlife that lives here and enjoy the games and crafts. Try sweep-netting in the meadow, dipping in the pond and hunting for minibeasts under logs. The mud kitchen will be open and the den building areas are ready for your creative constructions and bravest tree climbing.

A team member will be leading a short guided walk at 11am or 1pm. Alternatively, grab a copy of our Newton's Trail leaflet and explore on your own. What wildlife tracks and signs will you spot? A badger latrine, otter prints or rabbit holes?

Additional refreshments will be available for a donation.

Arrive anytime between 10am and 2pm. Organised activities will be cleared away at 3pm. You're welcome to stay on site as long as you like but may be asked to move your car outside the gate if it needs to be closed when staff leave.
