About the event
This is part of a series of collaborative events between Village Farm with Tom and Lisa Martin, and the Wildlife Trust for Beds, Cambs and Northants.
Tom Martin is an innovative famer who balances managing his land with a sensitively for wildlife, trialling ways to farm more sustainably, and connecting with people about the joys and challenges of food production in the UK. His passion has taken him on the BBC's Countryfile, and led him to share his life on social media with thousands of followers. Tom manages Village Farm with his wife Lisa
In this event, we'll take an early morning walk on their working farm with a focus on listening for bird song. For those that want them, we'll give tips on identifying birds, but you may wish to just soak up the atmosphere. Along the way we'll talk about how a farm can be profitable and still consider wildlife and long-term environmental impacts. We'll walk 2-3 miles at a gentle pace around field edges and over stiles. At the end of the walk, we'll have a cuppa and they'll be time for more questions, and a walk around Lisa's Village Farm community veg garden.
These walks are aimed at adults, but interested older teenagers are welcome.
