CEO Brian Eversham gave an inspirational introduction at the historic Pitt Building in the centre of Cambridge before the group embarked on the river into traditional punts - the ideal transportation to encounter bats.
The punts glided through the calm water of the river, and leaving the historic sky line of Cambridge quickly entered a tree-lined rural setting. As dusk turned to darkness our knowledgeable Wildlife Trust guide explained bat species and behaviour. Several bat species were seen including daubenton's skimming the water in front of the punt, Pipistrelle’s whizzing around our heads and Noctules zipping through the sky high overhead. The bat detectors that guests were given were in full use clicking away as the bats passed by us.
