What we do

Wildlife Conservation

We manage over 100 nature reserves across Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Northamptonshire, protecting wildlife and wild places through our vision for Living Landscapes. This involves connecting nature reserves together in a natural network, as well as providing advice and expertise to local people in the management of green spaces and promoting a greater consideration for the importance of nature to our society.

Nature Reserves

We manage over 100 nature reserves, providing thousands of hectares for wildlife to survive and thrive, including some of Britain's rarest habitats such as ancient woodlands, wild fen, heathland, wetland and wildflower meadows. More than 95% of people living in the three counties are less than five miles from a Wildlife Trust nature reserve.

Living Landscapes

Many wildlife sites are isolated and disconnected from each other. By creating Living Landscapes we are connecting these sites together in a large natural network that helps wildlife move more freely through the countryside.

We monitor the health of nature

Using the latest technology such as aerial drones, LIDAR, GPS and mapping software, as well as good old fashioned identification and recording, our staff and volunteers monitor the health of our area's ecosystems.
