The Monitoring and Research team are looking for volunteers who can help us record butterflies by doing a weekly transect on a nature reserve between April and September.

Butterfly transects are done via Butterfly Conservation's UK Butterfly Monitoring scheme

These involve a weekly visit between April and September to walk a fixed transect. You don’t need to be a top expert for these but you should be confident in recognising at least the common species on sight and be able to look up those you are not sure about.

At the moment, we are looking for volunteers to do transects on the specific reserves listed below. But if you would like to do a transect on one of our reserves that isn't listed, get in touch and we can let you know if there is an existing transect there, or if there is an opportunity to start a new one. 

We are currently looking for surveyors for the following nature reserves:

Strawberry Hill

Cooper's Hill
