London Luton Airport Ltd are holding a public consultation about their plans to expand the airport in Bedfordshire to handle 32 million passengers per annum (mppa) from its current cap of 18 mppa, using the existing single runway.
The Wildlife Trust BCN has responded jointly with Herts and Middlesex Wildlife Trust to these plans, and you can read the response here. Key concerns include the loss of an area of Local Wildlife Site, lack of detail about proposals to address the carbon impacts of increased flights and the increased need for water supply in an area where ground water supplies are already under huge pressure.
The consultation is also open to members of the public, and closes on 16th December.
