Voluntary Reserves Officer

A Voluntary Reserves Officer role is suitable for someone looking to begin a career in practical wildlife conservation.

Successful candidates will assist the reserves team in managing the Wildlife Trust’s nature reserves including habitat management of grassland, wetland and woodland sites and access maintenance. The majority of their time will be spent on physical work on reserves, there will also be opportunities to work with and lead volunteer work parties and assist with surveying and monitoring.

They will receive formal training and certification in first aid and use of brushcutters, as well as a programme of in-house training and places on Wildlife Trust training workshops. An ideal candidate would be able to commit to 3-5 days per week for at least 6 months.

Applicants should be capable of using power tools and machinery and enjoy days of physical work outdoors in all weathers. Good team working skills and an ability to be self-motivated are essential. Some previous experience of practical conservation work would be an advantage. Travel expenses are available. Application forms only.
