About the event

This is part of a series of collaborative events between Village Farm with Tom and Lisa Martin, and the Wildlife Trust for Beds, Cambs and Northants.

Tom Martin is an innovative famer who balances managing his land with a sensitively for wildlife, trialling ways to farm more sustainably, and connecting with people about the joys and challenges of food production in the UK. His passion has taken him on the BBC's Countryfile, and led him to share his life on social media with thousands of followers. He manages his farm with his wife Lisa.

In this event, we'll start the evening with a cuppa, and chance for questions with Tom about farming and wildlife whilst strolling around Lisa's Village Farm community veg garden. Then we'll take a gentle walk on their working farm with a focus on nocturnal animals like owls and bats (bat detectors will be provided). Along the way we'll talk about how a farm can be profitable and still consider wildlife and long-term environmental impacts. We'll walk 1-2 miles at a gentle pace around field edges and over stiles.

These walks are aimed at adults, but interested older teenagers are welcome.
