West Cambs 100s Youth Rangers (Hardwick Wood Coppicing)
, Highfields Caldecote, CB23 7AA
About the event
West Cambs 100s Youth Rangers is a series of activities for secondary-age young people to attend independently. They make use of the Wildlife Trust BCN nature reserves and offices in the area between the village of Gamlingay, and Trumpington on the edge of Cambridge, with many sessions based in Cambourne. There is something most months either on a Saturday morning or on a Friday during school holidays. It might be a practical task, volunteering at an event, walk, social event, talk or workshop. These sessions are aimed at young people aged 11-17 interested in local wildlife and global environmental issues. Some activities are free. Parents are invited to join ocasional sessions.
For the September session, we will join the Hardwick Wood volunteer wardens to do some coppicing using hand tools (saws and loppers). There is a walk to get to the site, so we'll chat about nature as we go, depending on what wildlife we see. This is a chance to take action for wildlife, and meet like-minded people. Parent are invited to join this session.
Booking is essential because we need to have parental consent and emergency contact details
Please note:
- no toilets will be available for this session
- We try to be as inclusive as possible, but this session may not suit every young person, and we cannot provide 1:1 support
- parents/guardians will be asked to fill out a consent form to include relevant issues to help us ensure participants get the most out of the session
Please consider the environment before deciding to drive a long distance to get to this session.
